Meet the candidates

Nominees for the board of directors

We are pleased to present to you, a member of Everence Federal Credit Union, the candidates chosen by the credit union nominating committee to fill the three vacant positions on our board. We believe our members are well represented by these qualified individuals. Submitted by the nominating committee for a two- or three-year term:
Andrew Demler headshot

Andrew Demler

Andrew Demler is Vice President at Henise Tire Service in Lebanon, Pa., a regional wholesale company that mainly serves the Central and Eastern segments of Pennsylvania. Before joining Henise Tire Service, Andrew, along with two partners, owned Ebersole Auto in Lebanon. Ebersole Auto had multiple locations and offered the following franchised brands: Honda, Buick, GMC, and Hyundai. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Economics from Bloomsburg University and initially went through the Management Training Program at Fulton Bank after graduating college. He was a member at Fairland Brethren in Christ Church for most of his life but has recently started attending Lifeway Church in Lebanon. He is serving his second term as President at the United Way of Lebanon County and is a member and Past President of the Lebanon Lions Club. Andrew lives in Lebanon County with his wife, Holly, and three children: Jackson, Weston, and Bennett. He is nominated for a three-year board term.

Steve Ropp

Steve Ropp was born and raised in Kalona, Iowa, attended Iowa Mennonite School, and graduated from Hesston College. Steve and his wife Kathy married and farmed for 3 years before they both returned to school at Iowa State University. After graduation, they moved to Iowa City, and he began working as a loan officer at a community-owned bank where he had a variety of responsibilities ranging from agriculture and commercial lending to being the Director of Commercial Banking for the last 17 years. After thirty-eight years in banking, Steve Ropp recently retired as Senior Vice-President and Director of Commercial Banking at Hills Bank and Trust Company in Hills, Iowa. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business, Specializing in Finance, from Iowa State University in Ames. Steve has a strong commitment to community and faith-based organizations, serving on boards for Hesston College, Iowa Mennonite School Iowa (Hillcrest Academy), and Crooked Creek Christian Camp. Additionally, Steve served on the Iowa City Chamber Ag Committee, Cedar Rapids Downtown Rotary, Iowa MCC Relief Sale Food Committee, First Mennonite Stewardship Commission, and as a Moderator for First Mennonite Church. Steve and Kathy are active members of First Mennonite Church in Iowa City, serving in various roles. They have three married adult children and five grandchildren. Steve is nominated for a two-year board term.
Clara Yoon headshot

Clara Yoon 

Clara Yoon is a Senior UX Researcher at Grubhub. Her work focuses on understanding customer needs and providing insights to product, design, and business stakeholders. Before working in the tech industry, Clara was a project manager at MEDA, focusing on inclusive financial services and impact investing programs in emerging markets, including East Africa, South America, and South Asia. She earned her Master’s degree in Global Governance from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, and resides in the Dayton, Ohio, area with her family. Clara is completing her first term on the EFCU board and serves on the Governance Committee. She is nominated for a second term of three years.

Additional things to note

Bylaws update

In October 2023, the board of directors approved the recommendation of the governance committee to increase the board size from seven to nine members. This increase in size will be completed when two new board members are elected in April.

Mark your calendar for our upcoming meeting

Join our Everence Federal Credit Union Board of Directors and credit union management team for our 2024 members meeting. This year’s event will be held in our newly remodeled Mount Joy branch and will include light refreshments and door prizes. Come and learn more about our cooperative credit union!

Nomination process

Members have the option to nominate names for directors

To do so, you must submit the following:

  1. A petition, signed by at least 1% (246) of Everence Federal Credit Union members, placing the person’s name in nomination.
  2. A letter from the nominee, stating that, if elected, that person is willing to serve. Mail petitions for nomination to Kevin Ressler, Board Chair, Everence Federal Credit Union, 2160 Lincoln Highway E., Ste. 20, Lancaster, PA 17602. Petitions cannot be sent via email. All petitions must be postmarked by February 11, 2024.

If the number of nominees equals the number of positions to be filled, no ballot election will be conducted and no nominations will be taken at the annual meeting.
