Everence joins with nonprofits and experts to offer guests unique value during estate planning events

Everence showed its ability to connect people and ideas during a recent estate planning seminar in Goshen. Around 120 guests and nonprofit representatives mingled at the corporate office for a seminar titled, Effective stewardship through estate planning.

“We know that estate planning can get complex, so it was nice to gather local professionals and take time to explain some of the basics to help people think about their journeys,” said Kim Kelsey, Charitable Services Representative and Church Relations Representative. She helped coordinate and host the event.

Guests heard from four experts on topics related to developing estate plans:

Shawn Persing*, CFP®, AWMA,® Director of Financial Planning at Everence, talked about how financial planning can help you achieve your dreams.

Bill Hartman, J.D., Vice President of Organization and Fiduciary Services at Everence, explained the details of how trusts work and how to determine if you need one.

Randall Jacobs, J.D., Attorney at Yoder, Ainlay, Ulmer and Buckingham, LLP, described inheritance laws and how an individual or family could get creative with passing on their retirement assets.

Denise Risser, Professional Organizer and Administrative Assistant at Bethany Christian Schools, presented smart tips for how to prepare to downsize your home.

“The whole evening was a rich experience,” said Kim. “We were thrilled to open our doors and create a space that helped give answers and raise questions. We are especially thankful to our nonprofit sponsors who made this event possible.”
