Joseph L. Lapp, JD, serves as an Everence® Trust and Charitable Services Specialist in Harrisonburg, Virginia, helping clients and members with their asset management and charitable planning needs.

Joe is a graduate of Eastern Mennonite University and earned his Juris Doctor degree from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law. He practiced law in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, for 15 years until becoming president of EMU in 1987. After serving EMU as president for 16 years, Joe was designated president emeritus of the university in 2003 and became an Everence trust and foundation representative. He has also previously served as the Everence Managing Director in Harrisonburg.

"My goal is to encourage people to recognize the relevance of their Christian faith in the world of finance. Much of life is connected to business and finance and if left outside the realm of faith, unfortunate things occur by default, that are contrary to being Christian disciples. By being aware of the implication of business and finance decisions, we can care for others, support the church, and benefit ourselves as well.”

Joe is married to Hannah and they have one daughter and two grandchildren. He is a member Park View Mennonite Church, the Harrisonburg Rotary Club, and the Board of Eastern Mennonite School. Joe spends his "fun time" discovering, researching and cataloguing old and current foreign coins and currency.
