Everence Financial® donated $3,000 to Our Community Place, an organization that provides hot meals, and other services to people who are homeless and marginalized.

The Everence chapter board for Harrisonburg, a board comprised of Everence members, selected the nonprofit to receive the Everence Chapter Grant for the region. As a faith-based financial services organization, the organization sets aside money each year to donate to various nonprofits and charities that seek to make the community a better place. Through the chapter grant, members speak into which organizations they’d like to support.

“We felt it would be critical to support an organization providing these much-needed services to our community,” said Teresa Boshart Yoder, Everence Managing Director. “Especially this year - with higher numbers of people facing economic hardship - Our Community Place ensures that people have hot meals and other important services to help them get on their feet.”

Our Community Place has been serving Harrisonburg for 10 years. They’ve served over 17,000 hot meals a year, and also provide laundry and shower services, storage lockers, case management services, volunteer and job training opportunities, empowerment and learning opportunities, help finding employment and housing, referrals for dental and health services, transportation, assistance completing Medicaid applications and renewals and more.

As part of the annual meeting of members, Everence provided a contactless document destruction service that safely and securely shredded 1,060 pounds of paper.
