Everence announces leadership transition for Harrisonburg team

New responsibilities for Joseph Lapp and Teresa Boshart Yoder

Joseph L. Lapp, J.D., has announced he will step down from his role as the Everence® Managing Director for the Harrisonburg region, effective March 31, 2017, to focus full time on serving Everence asset management and charitable planning clients and members. As part of the succession process, Teresa Boshart Yoder will take the reigns as the new Managing Director on April 1.

“I remain steadfastly committed to the mission of Everence,” said Lapp, “and look forward to continuing to help individuals, families, congregations and organizations recognize the relevance of their Christian faith in the world of financial stewardship.

Prior to joining Everence in 2003, Lapp served as president of Eastern Mennonite University for 16 years and is designated president emeritus of EMU. Before that, he practiced law in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, for 15 years. He is a graduate of EMU and earned his Juris Doctor degree from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law.

“Over the years, Joe has modeled servant leadership and a commitment to our mission,” commented Rod Diller, Everence Senior Vice President. “I am so thankful that Joe will continue building on his legacy, by assuming this new role focused on charitable and asset management services.”

Teresa Boshart Yoder joined Everence is 2015, most recently serving as an Everence Stewardship Consultant.

“I’m filling some big shoes,” Boshart Yoder acknowledged. “I have a deep respect for Joe and the leadership he has provided, and am grateful he is remaining as a valued member of the Everence team. I look forward to exploring new and exciting ways to serve the Harrisonburg community by helping people integrate their financial and charitable decisions with their faith and values.”

A native of Kalona, Iowa, Boshart Yoder has lived in the Shenandoah Valley for over two decades. Before joining Everence, she served for 24 years with Sentara RMH Healthcare in Harrisonburg, most recently as Director of Women’s Services. She is a graduate of Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and earned a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia
