Everence Development Conference a success
Stories of impact and charitable training highlighted the 2015 conference
The Everence Development Conference recently concluded its three-day event of insight and training, highlighted by themes of impact, inspiration and storytelling.
Just over 250 people attended, representing 120 organizations from the United States and Canada, making it the largest to date of the biennial event.
The conference featured three keynote speakers at the general sessions and included 24 workshops on a range of fundraising, marketing, gift planning and philanthropic topics.
“It is an honor to walk alongside the charitable organizations, church agencies and congregations and support the important work they’re doing,” said Everence President and CEO Ken Hochstetler. “The energy and passion at the conference was evident.”
Peter Greer, President and CEO of HOPE International, was the featured speaker on the last day of the conference. He talked about his top failures as a fundraiser and the lessons he learned from those experiences.
Paul Schervish, who serves as the Director of the Center on Wealth and Philanthropy at Boston College, was the keynote speaker on the second day. He spoke about the idea of mobilizing experiences and how “the joy and happiness from our lives will spread through grace to the lives of others.”
The conference opened with remarks from Shirley Hoogstra, President of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, as she spoke about the blessing and potential of giving.
“We hope that participants were able to return to their work and missions with new tools and ideas and with renewed inspiration to continue the great work they’re doing,” said Nikki Shingle, Everence Director of Charitable Relations. “And we hope attendees notice the stories of impact they’re helping to shape.”
