How one couple finds ways to be generous in retirement
Our financial planning clients work with us to align their money with their values, build confidence on the path ahead, and feel empowered them to give to the people and causes they care about most. In this final step, we help clients determine how much they can direct toward creating a positive impact in their world – what we call their impact gap.
We ask our clients to think about how the Impact GapTM might help them:
- Strengthen the relationships that matter most.
- Contribute to causes and organizations they’re passionate about.
- Gain confidence to live out their lifelong dreams and bucket list items.
One recently retired couple brings this to life. They left the workforce earlier than planned after financial planning helped them develop the roadmap to accomplish this goal. They've served Christ faithfully for many years and were in a healthy financial position because of their careful stewardship of the resources the Lord has provided.
They recently shared that the biggest benefit from financial planning at Everence has been understanding their ability to say yes to generosity.
Now, they find delight in buying groceries for strangers in line at the store; paying for gas for someone at the next pump; and taking their kids and grandkids to dinner each week.
When people ask why, this couple has a simple answer: “We love Jesus and we want to bless you because of what He’s done for us.”
This family wants their resources to make an impact now, and working with Everence has empowered them to do so. They see these small acts as ways of impacting others for Christ’s Kingdom, and that has brought them tremendous joy in their early days of retirement.
