Bontrager joins Everence as Chief Financial Officer

Experienced financial leader brings 20+ years of health care and education expertise to Everence

Everence Financial® is pleased to welcome Benjamin J. Bontrager as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer, starting Sept. 30, 2025. Bontrager joins the Everence Senior Leadership Team, reporting to Everence President and CEO Ken Hochstetler.

Bontrager brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in finance and operations to Everence. He previously served as Vice President for Finance and Operations at Goshen College, where he oversaw major initiatives including the renovation and construction of their new $20 million nursing education facility.

Prior to that, Bontrager served as Chief Financial Officer at Goshen Health. In that role, he partnered with leaders across the system to enhance long-term sustainability, support team development, and invest in facilities and systems that improved both organizational effectiveness and community care.

“Ben’s extensive experience in finance, systems, people, and place – combined with his collaborative leadership style – will be invaluable as we continue to grow and serve our members and clients,” Hochstetler said.

Bontrager received a Master of Business Administration degree from Goshen College and a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from Bethel College (Mishawaka, Indiana), with dual concentrations in Business Administration and Computer Information Systems.

He is actively engaged in the community, currently serving as a member of the Greencroft Goshen Board and Greencroft Communities Finance Committee.
