Marlene Martin Penner joins Everence as Chief Human Resources Officer

Human resources leader brings 20+ years of expertise to Everence

Everence Financial® is pleased to welcome Marlene Penner as Chief Human Resources Officer, starting August 3, 2026. 

Penner, a Certified Human Resources Professional (SHRM-CP), brings more than 20 years of human resources management expertise to this role.

Prior to arriving at Everence, Penner served as Associate Vice President for Human Resources and Deputy Title IX Coordinator at Goshen College. She also previously served as Director of Human Resource Services at Goshen Community Schools, and worked in the Everence Human Resources office from 2010 to 2012. 

“Marlene brings a wealth of experience in Human Resources from several industries and organizations, including previously at Everence, which will be a great benefit to her and all of Everence in how we serve our employees,” said Ben Bontrager, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer at Everence. 

Penner holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management from Huntington University and Business Administration and Management degree from Indiana University, South Bend.
