How did you find Everence?
I found Everence on a job board in college called Handshake. I originally applied for the accounting internship but then was recommended for the National Branch position instead, which I thought was interesting after hearing more about it.

What is your day to day like in your internship?
My day-to-day at Everence consists of sorting through the mail, processing credit card payments and deposits, working on CUPublisher, helping members with travel alerts, account-to-account transfers, and secure file uploads. I also help run the Bill Pay system and sort through different membership data to make sure the data is correct. I help with return mail for our MSRs as well.

What is something valuable you've learned through your internship?
Something valuable I have learned during my internship is how to conduct yourself in an office and in corporate America. Working is a lot different from being a student and it was something I needed to learn. I also learned how to communicate effectively in an office environment. I learned when it is appropriate to go see someone about an issue and when it is appropriate to email them. I also learned how important culture is in the workplace and what type of culture I would want in the future in my career.

What is something you like to do on the weekends?
Some things I like to do on the weekends are watch tv and relax. I like to read about different topics and relax that way as well. I am on the soccer team at my college, so I also like to play soccer on the weekends and catch up on workouts I needed to do for the summer. I like hanging out with my friends as well when I can.

What is your favorite local restaurant?
I think my favorite local restaurant was Bobby Bay’s sandwich shop. They make very good sandwiches and are not expensive for the portion you get. We went there for one of the intern lunches and I would want to go again if given the opportunity.

What advice do you have for future interns at Everence?
I think the one piece of advice I would give an intern at Everence is to always keep an open mind and never say no to an opportunity. For me, I shadowed mostly every department at Everence, and I found it very insightful to learn the little things each department does. The one thing about this internship is that if you have an interest in any department at Everence the internship is very flexible in the sense that Everence will give you time to investigate the interest you have. Everyone is very nice, and nobody will restrict you to only doing one thing. This is one of the things I liked most about the internship.
