Our employees are embracing the spirit of service in 2025
As part of our 80 Acts of Service initiative, our team has come together to support a wide range of community needs—from packing meals and mentoring students to cleaning up parks and assisting local shelters. Whether through hands-on help, faith-based involvement, or educational outreach, each act reflects our commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Explore the many ways we’ve been putting our values into action.
Community support & outreach
ECHOS Emergency Shelter – Served meals, cleaned up, and sanitized dining areas.
Habitat for Humanity (Elkhart) – Framed walls and installed trusses to support a family’s new home.
Humane Pennsylvania – Cleaned facilities, landscaped, and prepped for a grand opening event and spent time with adoptable pets.
Wakarusa Chamber of Commerce – Assisted with banquet setup, event activities, and cleanup.
Local neighborhoods – Shoveled snow for an elderly widow; tutored a neighbor in math and reading.
VMRC (Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community) – Participated in a whimsical, themed parade to uplift residents.
WVPE Public Radio – Answered phones during donation drive.
Middlebury Community Food Pantry – Helped pack and distribute meals for community members.
United Church Outreach Ministry (Wyoming, MI) – Repainted food pantry entrance and helped prep nearby urban farm.
Project 216 and Feed My Starving Children – Participated in meal packing campaigns for international hunger relief.
Community egg drop event – Stuffed plastic eggs with candy to support a local family celebration.
Education & youth engagement
Goshen College Kinderforest Program – Volunteered monthly to support outdoor early education.
Pettisville local schools (OH) – Assisted FFA students with mock interviews; led financial literacy sessions to prepare seniors for real-world scenarios; served on fundraising committee for library, STEAM, and sports facility improvements.
South Adams School – Helped run a Campus Life middle school club with over 75 students attending.
Guest reader in schools – Read weekly to 2nd grade students in April.
Defiance High School (OH) – Supported after-prom event by helping with games and prize distribution.
Career mentorship – Spoke to teens about careers in digital marketing and professional success.
Faith-based volunteering
North Clinton Church – Helped plan pastoral events and participated in Church Goal Planning Committee for missions.
Silverwood Mennonite Church – Assisted an elderly member with moving and personal budgeting needs.
Hesston Community Vacation Bible School – Led small groups in worship, crafts, games, and Bible lessons.
Church spring cleanup events – Provided building and grounds maintenance with congregation support.
Eicher Arts Center – Helped serve refreshments at a faith-adjacent community event.
MCC Resource Center (Ephrata, PA) – Assembled school kits, sewed quilts, and sorted supplies for global relief.
Colorado Roots Music Camp at Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp – Directed program for 70 students and 11 instructors in a music-centered spiritual retreat.
Environmental & outdoor projects
Pettisville Park (OH) – Removed storm debris, mulched landscaping, and cleared pond for community enjoyment.
New City Neighbors Urban Farm (Grand Rapids, MI) – Helped prepare planting fields and clean up old growth.
Girls on the Run (Goshen) – Monitored street safety and encouraged young runners during a community race.
Church Grounds Maintenance – Participated in outdoor beautification and seasonal cleanup projects.
Senior Leadership Team volunteers at Maple City Health Care Center
As part of our 80 Acts of Service, the Everence® Senior Leadership Team volunteered at Maple City Health Care Center in Goshen, helping beautify two locations. The afternoon strengthened our shared commitment to community health and partnership. It was a meaningful way to serve and celebrate our ongoing impact together.

Sharing stories of impact highlights the meaningful contributions people make in their communities and inspires others to take action. These stories celebrate kindness, service, and collaboration, encouraging more individuals to get involved and create lasting change.
Supporting MCC through quilt donations
Diana Voth, Vice President of Member Engagement and Impact at Everence Federal Credit Union, recently joined the committee coordinating quilt donations for the Pennsylvania Relief Sale, which raises funds for Mennonite Central Committee. The committee’s first task was to document and photograph all the quilts to create an online auction page, allowing people to place bids while the live auction takes place in April.
Providing lunch for school staff
Brenda Shelly, Client Services Representative at our Souderton, Pennsylvania, office, recently prepared and served lunch for the faculty and staff of Quakertown Christian School, providing a welcome break during the busy workday.
Celebrating guests at Night to Shine
Night to Shine is a prom-style event designed to celebrate individuals with special needs. Ashlee Vandemark, Client Services Representative at our Archbold, Ohio, office, was able to celebrate the night as a buddy to one of the honored guests.
Volunteering at Faith Mission
A group from the Everence Marketing team spent the morning volunteering with Faith Mission, sorting, packing, and moving seven tons of canned food donated by a local school. Faith Mission of Michiana is a Christian social service agency in Elkhart, Indiana, that provides food, shelter, clothing, and other services to homeless individuals.
Staff Volunteer Day at MCC Material Resources Center
On Feb. 17, 38 staff members volunteered at the MCC Material Resources Center in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, as part of our All-Day Staff Training. Volunteers participated in a variety of tasks, including checking canned meat, working on book recycling, tying comforters, assembling dignity kit items, and hand quilting – all in support of the Mennonite Central Committee's ministries.
Pledge night support at WPSU
Kari Cullen, compliance manager, volunteered her time to answer telephones during a pledge night at WPSU. Kari assisted listeners by taking pledges, helping support the station's fundraising efforts. Her involvement contributed to the success of the event, providing valuable support for WPSU's programming and community outreach.
Supporting residents at Country Meadows Retirement Community
Sarah Jones, Client Services Representative, and Elyse Kauffman, Charitable Consultant, had the privilege of assisting with fun activities for the residents of Country Meadows Retirement Community. They spent quality time chatting with the residents, playing Words in a Word, and helping with a lively game of Bingo. Their participation brought joy and connection to the community, making the day special for everyone involved.
Organizing closets at The Window
The Digital Team (Dominique Burgunder-Johnson, Jason Young, Mikol Aspinwall, Kevan Reifel, Chris Collat, and Jonathan Stuckey) volunteered their time to organize the clothing closet at The Window. The team worked together to sort and arrange donated clothing, ensuring the space was neat and accessible for those in need.
Packing meals for Feed My Starving Children
Caleb Chupp, intern in Harrisonburg, Virginia, volunteered at a Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) event, partnering with Tacos 4 Life. During the event, Caleb helped assemble and pack over 6,000 dehydrated meals, contributing to the organization’s mission of providing nutritious meals to children in need around the world.
Volunteering at Pettisville Local Schools – Amazing Shake
Shari Beck, Financial Consultant, and Brandon Taylor, Financial Representative, volunteered at Pettisville Local Schools for the Amazing Shake competition. The Amazing Shake is designed to develop professional skills in the next generation of leaders, and this year marked Pettisville’s first participation. Around 80 students competed in 18 stations within the "Amazing Shake Gauntlet." Brandon and Shari hosted the "Drop the Mic" Birds Eye View Podcast, where students introduced themselves and had 90 seconds to defend a stance on a hot-topic podcast subject.
Financial Reality Fair at Phoenix Academy
Everence Federal Credit Union staff, along with other staff from local credit unions, participated in a Financial Reality Fair at Phoenix Academy in Lancaster City, Pennsylvania. The volunteers engaged with approximately 120 juniors and seniors, guiding them through valuable lessons about budgeting, finances, and real-life decision-making. The hands-on, interactive experience helped students gain practical knowledge that will aid them in their future financial decisions.
Packing bacon for Blessings of Hope
Deb Boyd, Assistant Branch Manager, and her son David volunteered their time to pack bacon for Blessings of Hope. Their efforts helped prepare food donations for those in need, supporting the organization's mission to provide nutritious meals to individuals and families in their community.
