Stewardship and You Q3 2025: Letter from an expert

Faith and Finance |
Sprout rooting up

I view faithful stewardship as a journey of growth. None of us have likely reached a state of absolute perfection when it comes to integrating our faith with our finances. Regardless of where we are in our life journey, there are opportunities for us to continue growing in stewardship and generosity.

In my own life, I have been reflecting on Hebrews 12:1-3. In this letter of exhortation, we are invited to “fix our eyes on Jesus, lay aside hindrances, and run together” in a race that encompasses every moment of our lives. The path of discipleship, including the faithful management of all the resources entrusted to our care, goes beyond what we do in any particular moment. It represents the life-sized direction and daily choices we make to align ourselves with the will of God.

For young people, this may involve learning to budget, managing debt effectively, and prioritizing spending, saving, and giving. As we approach middle age, our focus often shifts more toward supporting others – children, aging parents, and the organizations and communities we believe are making a difference in the world. Then, as we near the end of our lives, our attention naturally turns to how we can bless and support those we are leaving behind. The decisions we make now allow us to live out our faith and values in the future.

Faith decisions to make on our stewardship journey

Wherever we are on this stewardship journey, the wisdom in Hebrews 12 remains relevant.

  • How do Christ's examples, teachings, and current leadership influence my actions?
  • Are there aspects of my life – attachments, distractions, misplaced priorities – that prevent me from being faithful?
  • How is my faith community inspiring me to live? How am I inspiring them in return?

We would love to assist you and your community in continuing to pursue faithfulness. Please let us know how we can support you and your stewardship journey.
