Michael Nicholas joins Everence as Vice President of Human Resources
Seasoned human resources and operations leader brings more than two decades of experience to role
GOSHEN, Indiana – Everence Financial® is pleased to announce that Michael Nicholas, SPHR®, SHRM-SCP, will succeed Eunice Culp, SPHR®, SHRM-SCP, as Vice President of Human Resources. Nicholas’s appointment began on April 25, 2022, allowing time for leadership transitions prior to Culp’s retirement on May 18.
“For an impressive 51 years, Eunice has been an integral part of the Everence team, leading some of our most important initiatives related to employee engagement and organizational culture,” said Ken Hochstetler, Everence President and CEO. “We fully anticipate Mike will build upon that foundation, and further help us grow Everence as an employer of choice through his human resources leadership and guidance.”
Nicholas brings more than two decades of human resources and operations expertise, particularly related to recruiting, employee relations, succession planning, compensation plans, process improvement and change management, to name a few. He comes to Everence from the South Bend (Indiana) Community School Corporation, where he was the Assistant Superintendent of Operations and, prior to that, as the Director of Human Resources at Bethel University (Mishawaka, Indiana). Previous work experience includes human resources and operations leadership roles at 1st Source Bank, United Federal Credit Union, Reach360, and Wiers International Trucks.
He earned his Bachelor of Religious Education degree from Great Lakes Christian College (Lansing, Michigan), and his Master’s in Human Resource Management from the Keller Graduate School of Management of DeVry University (Chicago). He is past president of the Michiana Chapter of SHRM, and served as treasurer of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources.
