Hurricane Maria dealt a devastating blow to Puerto Rico in September 2017, and repairing the damage is a continuing challenge.
Everence® has sent two groups of employees to the island this year to help with Mennonite Disaster Service restoration efforts.
A group of five volunteers spent a week in Puerto Rico in May, followed by a group of 10 in June.
The Everence workers replaced roofs of homes blown off in the storm, built new exterior walls and did other types of work to help residents rebuild their lives.
In February, Martin Navarro, Stewardship Consultant and Financial Representative, helped lead a retreat for pastors on spiritual and financial wellness.
In Goshen, Indiana, seven Everence staff members participated in a Puerto Rico Rising 5K Run/Walk to raise money for Academia Menonita Betania in Aibonito, Puerto Rico. Everence was a corporate sponsor of the 5K, which took place June 9.
