Gabriella Ferra aims to become an airline pilot

Gabriella Ferra has loved flying since taking her first flight on a private plane when she was 4 years old.

She’s now a student at Florida Institute of Technology, working on a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical science. Gaby finished her first year of college, and is on track to earn her degree in about two more years.

Gaby earned her private pilot license in 2017, then got her instrument rating certificate in December 2018 and commercial pilot certificate in June of this year.

She needs more hours of flight training to earn another certificate, which would pave the way to becoming an airline pilot.

She’s trained at New Horizons Aviation, Goshen, Indiana; and FIT Aviation at her college.

The exhilaration of that childhood flight “mentally stuck with me as something I wanted to do,” Gaby said.

Gaby has been one of the top Everence® college scholarship recipients for 2018-2019 and 2019-2020.
