Spanish-speaking financial counselors are now available to provide advice to Spanish-speakers attending Anabaptist-related congregations or working at Anabaptist-related organizations.
Everence, in collaboration with LSS Financial Counseling, has been providing phone-based counseling since January 2008. “We are glad to now expand these services for Spanish language speakers,” said Beryl Jantzi, Everence director of stewardship education.
All the counselors are trained to address financial issues, such as:
- Dealing with credit card debt
- Money management and budgeting
- Mortgage foreclosure and predatory lending
- Vehicle and student loans
- Home buying readiness
- Preventing identity theft
The toll-free number for the counseling in Spanish is (855) 292-0131. “Pastors should feel free to share this number with their congregations,” said Jantzi. “If they have specific questions about this service, they are welcome to call me at (800) 442-7930.”
