Member Highlight: Center for Healing & Hope

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of International Credit Union Day, learn about one of our members and the impact that Everence Federal Credit Union has had on their business.

Center for Healing & Hope (CHH) began as part of the Hispanic Outreach at St. John the Evangelist’s Catholic Church in Goshen, Indiana in 1999. Their goal was to provide affordable healthcare for the growing Latino population who lacked health insurance and often faced other barriers to receiving care such as income, language, and documentation.

Today, they live out this goal at 400 W. Lincoln Avenue in Goshen by providing affordable healthcare and immigrant advocacy in a Christ-like manner to meet people’s needs in our community. While Spanish speakers still make up the vast majority of those who are receiving services at Center for Healing & Hope, they provide healthcare for anyone who lacks health insurance and advocacy for immigrants from all over the world.

CHH chose to bank with Everence because they “felt like the credit union embodied the values [they] hold dear.” They choose to continue to bank at Everence because of the similar values both organizations share.

Missy Schrock, Executive Director at CHH says, “Because Everence and CHH are rooted in faith, it feels like a natural fit to bank with a company that has both our fiscal and spiritual interests in mind. We have developed a great partnership with Everence over the years in ways that make a broad impact in the community. A great example of this is that we continue to be a selected Neighbor by many members who utilize the MyNeighbor Credit Card, and thus receive 1.5% of those members’ transactions as a donation to Center for Healing & Hope. We are grateful for this support.”

CHH also appreciates the level of service Everence provides. “The service at Everence Federal Credit Union always feels familial and welcoming. The staff are helpful and willing to answer any questions we may have,” states Missy.
