Home improved for women overcoming homelessness

An organization in Phoenix, Arizona, that runs a transitional housing program got a boost recently from an Everence chapter grant.

The Everence National Chapter, which includes members from many states, provided a grant to help remodel a home for single women committed to developing skills to overcome homelessness.
House of Promise Sunnyslope installed new, more secure windows and doors on a Phoenix home and built an annex to hold a washer and dryer.

Volunteers from Sunnyslope Mennonite Church and other nearby churches supplied the labor for the project, with Ron Frey, Everence National Chapter board member, providing supervisory skills. Jim Smith, M Div., PCS, DTM, Church Relations Representative, helped organize the effort.

The Everence chapter grant program provides assistance to local organizations and causes. The grants are made possible when members purchase many Everence products.
